Thomas Frank Worried About the GOP Drinking His Milkshake*

There’s a part of me that enjoys articles like this one by Thomas Frank even more than I would by somebody who didn’t hate either conservatives, or the Republican Party. You see, despite Frank’s arrogant sneering at conservatives, willful refusal to see the Democrats’ own role in our current financial mess, petulant dismissal of the burgeoning right-populist movement, hasty downplaying of a set of a bunch of social issues that his side is losing anyway, and brassy mendacity over the deep ties between corporate America (particularly Wall Street) and the Democratic Party - he still has to admit that we’re starkly dangerous as a political party.

And when we have the Democrats for lunch - which we will; Thomas Frank is quite right about that - it’s not going to be because they started acting like Clintonites (read: ‘centrists’) again. It’s going to be because the Democratic party is committed to doing its level best to make the GOP look like centrists.

  1. That was a gem! Thanks for the good read. I'm loving the little flare ups here and there in the kool-aid carrying Obama Stream Media, showing definite signs of "huh?". It's gonna get really fun over the summer I'm guessing!

    These lines were great:

1."Or his mystifying tendency to give important economic oversight jobs to former hedge fund managers and investment bankers -- rather than, say, regulators or experts in corporate crime." (ya, think?)

    2. "As for Obama administration officials, I suspect they will find it difficult to get back to "Yes We Can" after having spent so much time chanting, "Because We Say So."" (even his love smitten fellow libs don't appreciate his high handedness)

And of course, out of their own mouth:

    3. We WILL "have them for lunch"! Glad they know it.(The difference is it will be CONSERVATIVES - not just "Republicans". We haven't always sent conservatives to DC. Our success depends on flooding local, state and national elections w/true red blooded conservatives - to the bone)
